St. Bartholomew's explores five world religions in upcoming program

St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church is kicking off its latest program "Five Paths up the Mountain: Exploring Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism," Wednesday, Feb. 29.

Join St. Bartholomew's for an opportunity to learn more about five world religions -- Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism and Christianity. This program, running for five consecutive Wednesdays, is an opportunity to gain some perspective on how religions are the same and how they are different - and arrive at a better understanding and appreciation of five orientations toward God and the world.

Presenters are:

* Dr. Karma Lkeshe Tsomo, associate professor of Theology and Religious Studies at USD, speaking on Buddhism the evening of Feb. 29.

* Dr. Bahar Davary, associate pofessor of Theology and Religious Studies at USD, speaking on Islam the evening of March 7.

* Dr. Lance Nelson, professor of Theology and Religious Studies at USD, speaking on Hinduism the evening of March 14.

* Rabbi David Castigilione, Temple Adat Shalom, speaking on Judaism the evening of March 21.

* Rev. Canon Dr. Jack Lindquist, adjunct professor at USD and Religious Studies Canon at St. Paul's Cathedral, speaking on Christianity the evening of March 28.

The evening begins with a soup supper at 6 p.m., followed by the presentation and a Q&A session at 6:45 p.m. All are welcome to this special event and there is no cost to attend, but a freewill offering is appreciated.
