Related Special Reports

The San Diego Jewish Food Festival has announced the lineup of their Celebrity Chef Cooking Demonstrations for the April 22 event. This is the third Jewish Food Festival gathering in San Diego County.

Sponsored and hosted by Temple Adat Shalom (TAS) of Poway, this year's festival will feature celebrity chef cooking demonstrations with executive chefs from popular local restaurants. Leading the cooking demonstrations will be Ron Oliver, Chef de Cuisine at the Marine Room in La Jolla. Additional featured chefs include:

* Matt Gordon, Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Urban Solace and Solace & Moonlight Lounge

* Amanda Baumgarten, a Bravo Top Chef competitor and Executive Chef at Herringbone, opening soon in La Jolla

* Flor Franco, owner Indulge Contemporary Catering

* Sara Polczynski, local culinary instructor and former executive pastry chef at several of the popular Cohn restaurants.

As Chef de Cuisine at the prestigious Marine Room in La Jolla, Chef Ron has led his talented team to eight titles as Best Restaurant in San Diego. For the Festival, Chef Ron will be preparing a special cured salmon dish accompanied with matzo brei blinis, a thin crispy pancake that is sure to surprise and delight the palate of festival guests. "I am very pleased to be able to share my passion for ethnic foods at this wonderful gathering," noted Chef Ron. "I am also looking forward to ‘Noshing' around the World and checking out many of the tasty delights at the festival."

The San Diego Jewish Food Festival (www.sdjewishfoodfest.com) will be a day-long culinary journey featuring nosh-sized samples of Jewish and associated ethnic foods based on time-honored recipes from around the globe. A nosh is considered the perfect size for a taste.

In addition to the celebrity chef cooking demonstrations and countless food booths with goodies that Grandma might have made, the festival will also offer a wide assortment of deli and bakery delights from local sponsors such as DZ Akins, Milton's and City Deli.

Additional Festival sponsors include Barons, Unicorn Jewelry, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, New York Bagels and Café, Party Pals, On-The Go and New York Beat DJs. Sponsorships are still available for interested area businesses.

The Jewish Food Festival will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, at 15905 Pomerado Road, Poway (across from Sprouts). It will feature exciting live music throughout the afternoon, a wide assortment of local specialty vendors and hands-on activities suitable for children of all ages.
