"Celebrate Sr. Dolores Scholarship Benefit Weekend," is a one-time event, April 27-29, honoring the legacy that Sr. Dolores has provided to the Academy.

Sr. Dolores Anchondo, CSJ, has been the principal of the Academy of Our Lady of Peace since 1981. Under her leadership, the Academy has been recognized as a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence three times, and been named one of the "50 Best High Schools in the United States" by the Catholic High School Honor Roll.

Sr. Dolores has overseen the expansion of the academic honors program to include additional courses in English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, history, economics, and Spanish; the Advanced Placement program offerings have increased from one course to 12. She implemented the Second Century Development program which has provided funding to construct the Holy Family Event Center (a combined gymnasium/multi-purpose facility) as well monies to renovate most of the historical buildings on the campus. The athletic program has expanded from two C.I.F. sports to nineteen teams.

Sr. Dolores also formalized the Academy's service learning program in which Academy students have donated more than 22,000 hours of service annually to San Diego organizations. Additionally, more than 4,500 girls have graduated from OLP during her tenure.

As Sr. Dolores retires this year, she is being honored for the 30-year legacy of service she has provided to the Academy and the larger San Diego community. Guests will be treated to a fun-filled weekend of golf, fine dining and entertainment while ensuring that worthy students receive the support they need to attend OLP. Please join us on April 27-29 as we celebrate Sr. Dolores' and the accomplishments at the Academy.

Details about the events may be found at www.aolp.org/apps/news/show_news.jsp?REC_ID=230094&id=0

If you are unable to join us, please consider supporting this weekend by making a gift donation. Community support through participation and donations make it possible to grant deserving students the advantages of an OLP education through the tuition assistance program: A conservative estimate for tuition aide during the last 20 years at OLP would be slightly over 25 percent of the incoming students.

Donations and cards of congratulations may be mailed to: Academy of Our Lady of Peace, 4860 Oregon Street, San Diego, CA 92116. Please also feel free to contact Rosalie Martinez at 619-725-9126 for further information or questions.
