Rady Children's has a variety of opportunities to engage company employees while supporting the hospital's kids.
Children’s 101 (Spring/Fall Sessions) -- The day and a half experience allows executives and community leaders to truly understand Rady Children’s Hospital from simulated experiences and experts themselves. Whether it be through a demonstration of a simulation baby used to train Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) physicians, an ambulance visit, a tour of the Operating Rooms or a demonstration by a neurosurgeon, guests will learn exactly how their funds and Rady Children’s Hospital are working to improve the health and happiness of the community. An experience you won’t forget.
Shamu & You Family Walk (Oct. 26) -- Create a corporate team. The bigger the team, the more money you raise. Each team gets a customized fundraising website and each team is able to help raise money through family and friends. Teams more than 50 people get a designated tent space on the day of the event, their company name on the back of the t-shirts, one team sign with company name and shout-outs on our Facebook page. As a company, you could offer to pay the registration fee for anyone who wants to participate.
Kids NewsDay (Oct. 21) -- Participate in Kids NewsDay, by rounding up volunteers to help sell newspapers the morning of the event. As a group you could have an assigned intersection where you meet and help sell papers.
Fantasy on Ice: Employee Skate Day (December) -- As a fun holiday outing or celebration, you could round up your employees and have a skate party, all proceeds benefit Rady Children’s Hospital Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
Employee Giving -- Local companies can host a campaign and give their employees the opportunity to give back through their paycheck each month. Set a goal and offer your employees a fun incentive. Have a Rady Children’s presentation and/or a tour for your employees to help inspire them.
Host a Toy Drive -- Toys are given out to patients and their siblings throughout the year for a variety of reasons, including birthdays, cheering them up, special occasions, successful surgeries, going through treatment, and more! More than 192,000 individual patients came through our doors last year, so we go through toys quickly. We accept new and unwrapped, non-violent toys.
Clothing Drive for CAPS -- The Child and Adolescent Psychological Services (CAPS) program is an inpatient unit for children and adolescents up to age 18, with psychiatric illness. It is vital to the mental and emotional wellness of the youth in our community. They are continually in need of clothing for kids and teens of various sizes, so your team could do a clothing drive to provide them with the materials they need to care for their patients.
