Students donate toys to Tri-City Medical Center

Related Special Reports

More than 400 new toys recently were given by the Mitchell Thorp Foundation Junior Advisory Board to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside. About a dozen students delivered large storage bins filled with stuffed animals and other goodies to the Tri-City Healthcare District's Board of Directors.

The North County students, ages 13-18, donated the toys on behalf of the Mitchell Thorp Foundation as part of their ongoing "Angels of Love, Hope & Joy, xoxoxo" project to comfort sick children in local hospitals. The student group was formed last November to provide the youth with a worthwhile community service program. Foundation Board Member Kelly Schwab is the group’s mentor.

The Mitchell Thorp Foundation is a locally-based, nonprofit organization that provides financial and emotional support to families whose children suffer from life-threatening illnesses, diseases and disorders.
