Sharp HealthCare announced its inclusion in this year's InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation's most innovative users of business technology.
Overall, Sharp was ranked 50th in the nation on the Information Week list, and among the nearly 50 health care provider organizations who also appeared on the list, Sharp was ranked among the top 10 health care IT innovators and is the only one in California to be included.
Sharp HealthCare was recognized for increasing productivity and revenue generation, quality and patient care in its Laboratory Services through a partnership with aLabs, an outside vendor that helps ensure lab data sent from physicians’ offices automatically becomes part of each patient's electronic medical record. The project required activity in almost every area of Sharp's IT department, which includes more than 400 employees.
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Top winners have included: CME Group, Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
