Employees of Takeda California, a drug discovery research company, traded their lab coats for bicycles on April 12 for the company's annual “Tour de Takeda” bike ride and walk to raise funds for the American Diabetes Association. Takeda California donated $5 for every mile covered by the bikers and walkers, and raised $13,400 after 2,680 miles, according to a release.
The Tour de Takeda kicked off in Mission Bay, at the Fiesta Island Loop. The company-wide event was part of Takeda California's commitment to help local nonprofit organizations, schools and the environment. Over the past six months, Takeda California employees have planted 2,000 trees in San Diego County, raised $30,000 for Komen San Diego, and helped youth at the San Diego Center for Children.
