NECA has provided more than a century of service to the $130 billion electrical construction industry that brings power, light, and communication technology to buildings and communities across the United States. The San Diego Chapter was chartered in 1942, and today represents more than one hundred electrical contractors with an elected Board of Director and a full time professional staff.

Our apprenticeship programs are approved by the State of California Division of Apprenticeship Standards and nationally recognized by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the National Electrical Contractors Association. The SDETT has been recognized by the United States Bureau of Apprenticeship Training as a model for programs all over the world.

* Helmets to Hardhats Partnership *

The San Diego Electrical Training Center is approved for VA benefits and works in partnership with Helmets to Hardhats, a national program that connects transitioning active-duty reservists and veterans with Union jobs. Applicants with electrical or electronic military training can automatically bypass some of our entrance requirements.

Even without the related training, military veterans are still ideal candidates for our apprenticeship programs. Students with military experience have the drive, commitment, and work ethic needed to excel in our programs.
