Related Special Reports

San Diego-based Saturn Electric Inc. received worldwide notoriety when certified members of its electric vehicle charging station team were brought in as consultants to help with the manufacturing requirements on level 2 charging stations used by Chevy Volt.

Saturn's President Tim Dudek welcomed the opportunity for his team to be included. As San Diego's demand for electric vehicles gains momentum and gas prices continue to rise, Saturn Electric has been on a fast pace installing commercial and residential electric charging stations.

Cities such as Coronado, Del Mar and Encinitas as well as several agencies, including the Port of San Diego and North County Transit have embraced the new technology and the need to "go green." Many of these installations require a certain amount of partnership, which includes Saturn Electric's expertise.

In San Diego, Saturn Electric Inc has installed more than 150 level 2 charging stations and another 115 charging stations are scheduled to be installed over the next two months.

"These installations are an important step toward the development of an EV infrastructure which will help San Diego in becoming less dependent on oil. I am proud that Saturn Electric Inc. is playing a pivotal role in this field," Dudek said.
