Energy management plays important role in property management

Related Special Reports

Meissner Jacquèt Investment Management Services is at the forefront of the green building energy movement by integrating energy management strategies into our property management services.

Energy management and sustainability practices are proven to help commercial real estate assets achieve reduced operating expenses. Therefore, to capitalize our clients’ return on investments, Meissner Jacquèt actively seeks opportunities to provide our clients with the knowledge and business plans necessary to implement customized energy management and sustainability practices.

Meissner Jacquèt has partnered with Energy Star, a government-backed program, to enact energy efficient practices in our core business and to provide our clients with valuable energy resources.

According to Energy Star, Meissner Jacquèt is among the top three San Diego companies for the number of San Diego buildings that earned the 2011 Energy Star award. Most recently, Meissner Jacquèt undertook the energy management of The Paladion in downtown San Diego, located at 777 Front Street, and earned the building the prestigious Energy Star award. The Energy Star award identifies the building as meeting strict energy performance standards.

Building owners, single-use tenants and lenders should be aware of a new California bill, AB 1103, which goes into effect on July 1. The bill requires commercial buildings to disclose energy use and other building data by uploading it to the EPA’s Energy Star Portfolio System Manager. In response to the bill, Meissner Jacquèt is assisting building owners with energy benchmarking, energy auditing and state-funded energy incentive/rebate programs.

By taking advantage of energy incentive programs offered by San Diego Gas & Electric, Meissner Jacquèt performed a multitenant lighting retrofit on their corporate office and received more than $25,000 in lamps, ballasts and occupancy sensors. The retrofit was completed in December 2011 and reduced operating costs and increased the building’s energy efficiency by 17 percent.
