In April, a Conde Nast Traveler reader poll named the recently renovated Spa at Rancho Bernardo Inn as the number one resort spa in North America.
The annual poll ranks spas based on numerous criteria, including setting, services, staff, programs and cuisine. The Spa at Rancho Bernardo garnered an overall score of 91.8 out of 100. Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker was the architect of record.
Another San Diego business to catch the attention of Conde Nast Traveler, Whisknladle Neighborhood Bistro & Bar in La Jolla, was honored on the publication's 12th annual "Hot List" outlining 105 of the world's best new restaurants. Whisknladle, a Mediterranean-inspired "gourmet comfort" establishment, purchases all their ingredients from local organic farms and bakes, churns and smokes everything in-house.
According to the publication, a team of roving epicures visited 32 countries -- from Chile to the Czech Republic, Thailand to Tunisia -- to track down the world's most exciting new restaurants.
Whisknladle was the only San Diego restaurant to earn the distinction of a 2008 "Hot Table." The last San Diego restaurant to be honored with this distinction was Island Prime/C Level in 2006.
