YachtFest offers previews

YachtFest 08 will open the international yacht show season at San Diego's Shelter Island for the ninth straight year, from Sept. 11-14.

Presented by San Diego Marine Exchange, YachtFest offers what larger shows don't -- an intimate glimpse inside some of the world's most luxurious floating vessels ranging in size from 60 to over 120 feet.

More than $60 million worth of boats, yachts, super yachts, luxury cars and other accessories will be on display and for sale at Shelter Island Marina and the Island Palms Hotel. In addition to previewing yachts, attendees can check out the newest in yachting products and gain exclusive access to luxury goods.

The wave of affluence in San Diego has YachtFest organizers anticipating greater interest in builder, charter, fractional and brokerage yachts, plus luxurious "toys" that accommodate the sea cruising lifestyle. Not only is San Diego ranked one of the top five richest cities in the nation, according to a 2007 U.S. Census Bureau Survey, but YachtFest organizers say the city's influx of high-end hotels, fine dining restaurants and new mega yacht facilities will further entice yachting enthusiasts to sail toward America's Finest City.

Simcha selected for games

Simcha San Diego Kosher Catering has been selected as the official catering sponsor of the upcoming Jewish Community Center Maccabi Games. Simcha will be providing all the food served at the games, as well as events surrounding the games.

The Maccabi Games is an Olympic-style sports competition being hosted in San Diego Aug. 3-8, involving 1,500 Jewish athletes, ages 12-16. The event combines sports, cultural and social activities that attract athletes from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Israel, South America, Australia and Europe.

Simcha was chosen over many other kosher caterers nationwide because it was the only caterer that would meet all the dietary requirements of a kosher event. One of the highlights of Simcha's contribution to the Maccabi Games will be the catering of a large gathering on the Midway that is Israeli themed and will include over 1,500 people, in addition to a closing party.
