Kellie Hill, who joined Cassidy Turley BRE Commercial as a vice president of project development last fall, said she has grown accustomed to a work schedule that often keeps her working from 7 A.M. in the morning to 10 p.m. at night.
If Hill weren't busy enough, she plans to become the president of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) San Diego next year. CREW is dedicated to helping women advance in the commercial real estate industry through education and networking.
"Seventy-five percent of CREW's members here (the chapter has about 90 individuals) hold senior management positions," said Hill. "That kind of knowledge is priceless."
Hill has been active in CREW for four years and has served many roles, including planning and overseeing the organization’s education programs. She is also an active member of NAIOP San Diego and for the past three years has served on several committees
Hill, the first in her immediate family to graduate from college, obtained her degree in construction management at Arizona State University.
By the time Hill was 25, she had founded her own construction management company and would grow it into a million dollar business.
Hill, whose expertise ranges from the construction of restaurants to tenant improvements for office construction, has managed more than 500 construction projects in 45 states. She has supervised the construction of 400 retail stores, 200 acres of new shopping center development and 300,000 square feet of restaurant construction. She has also worked for Unisource Solutions, Inc., a furniture management company, in business development, customer relations and project planning.
While Hill might have remained in the construction management business, she gradually found herself gravitating to the commercial real estate as well as the development side of the industry.
Late last year, Hill was recruited by Cassidy Turley BRE Commercial to serve as vice president of project development services, where she oversees all project management and tracks entire projects from site selection to final closeout.
In this newly-created role, Hill works with her company’s brokers to help their clients move to new space, expand existing space or decommission space. Hill is responsible for developing this business line in three markets –San Diego, Phoenix, and Orange County.
"Construction management taught me how to surround myself with a capable team," Hill said.
Hill's clients include Wal-Mart, Famous Footwear, Kilroy Realty, Countrywide Home Loans, Genentech/Roche, Native New Yorker, Diversified Partners, LLC and Datron World Communications.
Hill also mentors young women interested in entering the commercial real estate field as well as other industries.
In addition to professional attributes, Hill is a certified "Spin" and "SPX Pilates" physical education instructor at Sculpt SPX in Solana Beach.
