The award-winning San Diego chapter of the International Facility Management Association invites you to learn more about our organization and how we can assist in your facilities management career.
IFMA San Diego is soon to celebrate their 25th year in the community and has an active member base of more than 300. In 2010, IFMA San Diego won top recognition as Chapter of the Year from the organization, and followed in 2011 with another prestigious Award of Excellence in Professional Development. These awards are in recognition of the chapter membership's success in working together to create an active and involved organization that supports the facility management profession.
As an integral member of the real estate community, facility managers are responsible for the cost-effective, efficient and successful operation of their buildings. Facility management is an exciting profession, which IFMA San Diego supports with networking events, educational luncheons, round tables and an active website that features up-to-date information as well as forums for airing questions and exchanging information.
IFMA San Diego also offers educational tracks in earning a Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP) or the new Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) certifications. There will be a two-day class July 12 and 13 in the FMP track on Operations and Maintenance, and a CFM review class on Aug. 10 and 11.
A recent round table luncheon featured questions actively discussed among the audience regarding outsourcing, security, landscaping and space utilization. These luncheons are a great place to network and learn. In our upcoming luncheons, we will tour the Point Loma Submarine Base and in July will learn more about "Managing Tenant Improvements Without Raising Your Blood Pressure", featuring speakers from Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects and Kevin Reynolds from Reynolds Project Management. In August, we will feature another round table-style luncheon discussion: "Merged, Acquired, Consolidated, a Facility Manager's Survival Guide."

In April of 2011, IFMA San Diego began a quarterly “Round Table Program” exclusively for our professional members. This is a great opportunity to meet other facility managers in an informal setting and to talk about the issues they face every day at their companies.
