The City of Tijuana's Secretariat of Economic Development organized the city's first Bi-national Clusters Workshop in collaboration with the Tijuana Economic Development Council.
The event, held at the Tijuana World Trade Center, brought together businessmen, government officials, academia and industry specialists from both sides of the border for a program of activities, which included presentations, break-out sessions, meetings, and a keynote address on how to achieve sustainable clusters, competitiveness, and regional development.
The purpose of the event was to encourage companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in the region to form similar projects in order to increase competitiveness both regionally and globally. The break-out sessions served to start discussions on how clusters from both sides of the border can collaborate. The San Diego CITD provided promotional support for the event and accompanied a delegation of City of Chula Vista and SANDAG officials to the event.
