The CITD was fortunate to host two interns from Southwestern College this semester: Jesus Guardado and Andrea Martin.
Jesus completed an Associate's Degree in International Logistics and Transportation this semester, and Andrea is a student majoring in International Business with plans to transfer to a four-year university in less than a year. Jesus and Andrea participated in work-based learning activities including working on a variety of projects in support of the global trade and logistics sector, which included market research, identifying potential foreign suppliers and buyers, and developing business databases, among others.
In addition to Jesus and Andrea, the CITD also hosted two interns from High Tech High Chula Vista: Emilio Ballesteros and Austin Lupercio. Emilio and Austin are both juniors at High Tech High with an interest in entrepreneurship, which made them a natural fit to work on the CITD's Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP). In addition to participating in the YEP online business training, Emilio and Austin helped keep the YEP website content fresh, promoted YEP through social media channels and other sites, and played an important role in the upcoming redesign of the YEP website, all while working on developing their own business ideas.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our interns for their hard work in support of the CITD's programs and services and wish them well in all their future endeavors.
