Able Patrol and Guard (APG) provides professional, uniformed security services consisting of security officers, marked vehicle mobile patrol, alarm response, CCTV installation, maintenance and monitoring, vulnerability analysis and security surveys. It is a veteran-owned, family operated small business originally incorporated in California in 1964.
The company epitomizes the ethics and values of the finest of family-owned businesses. George Grauer has overcome significant obstacles in building his company, since employee fraud brought the company to the brink of bankruptcy 15 years ago. Since then, Grauer rebuilt the company on a firm foundation of solid employee training, development and recognition. He has taken personal interest in his employees' needs above and beyond what most employers would provide. As an example of his natural civic mindedness, he has volunteered with organizations that help disadvantaged students earn college scholarships.
Through the years, APG has received recognition, including multiple Family-Owned Small Business of the Year nominations, Inc. Magazine’s Top 5,000 Fastest Growing Private Companies, Winning Workplaces nominee, Workplace Excellence medallion winner and Training Magazine’s Top 125 award nominee.
Grauer graduated from high school in Chicago in 1956, and served in the military, including the U.S. Navy, from from 1959 to 1962. He graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in business education in 1968. He was employed as a Special Agent, Criminal Investigator for the U.S. Department of Treasury beginning in 1971. He has attended various Special Agent law enforcement classes. Grauer retired from the federal government in 1983.
