Qualcomm Life, WebMD collaborate

Related Special Reports

Qualcomm Life Inc. is joining forces with WebMD, an online source of health information, to enable millions of consumers to access and manage wireless health data from an array of fitness, wellness and medical devices.

The announcement was made at the HIMSS 2013 conference being held at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

The Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM) subsidiary and WebMD (Nasdaq: WBMD) are making biometric data available, actionable and relevant to consumers so they can more proactively manage their health and fitness.

Qualcomm's 2net Platform will be integrated with various WebMD offerings to provide consumers and physicians with a connected health experience.

This technology collaboration will establish an open ecosystem of digital health apps and third-party devices across various disease categories and lifestyle interests where consumers and physicians can select solutions that suit their preferences and healthcare needs.

In addition to the WebMD collaboration, Qualcomm Life is further enabling innovation and customization of mobile health applications and services by announcing limited availability of the Beta version of the 2net Hub Application Programming Interface (API) and Software Development Kit (SDK).

The 2net Hub API and SDK Beta, available by the end of March, will enable existing and new 2net Ecosystem partners to develop custom health care device connectivity for inclusion in the 2net Hub device library.
