Robotics software company 5D Robotics Inc., known for its technologies advancing human-to-robot interaction, has moved its headquarters to a new location in Carlsbad.

The new office, located in Suite 113 at 2236 Rutherford Road, encompasses 14,500 square feet, and includes executive offices and a bay for robotic research and development. In a release, the company said it will continue to rent a large outdoor space for robotic testing and demonstrations, as needed.

The company indicated the move is part of an effort to expand its operations at a time when its business is thriving.

“The 5D vision of integrating robotic hardware and software to create real, reactive human behaviors is exciting to the robotics community, the defense sector and private industry,” David Rowe, 5D Robotic’s CEO, said. “We continue to provide soldiers with robotic teammates that can carry their gear and find hazards

“Now we are expanding into commercial applications and we needed larger offices and testing areas in order to do that.”

The company is also working with partners and customers on products for the distribution, mining and lodging and hospitality sectors, he added.
