Brokers can’t afford to rest on their laurels in today’s market

Related Special Reports

In this day and age, we cannot afford to remain stagnant as the work environment and growth and technology continue on a fast-paced course around you, especially when it comes to managing commercial real estate. Understanding the needs of institutional and private equity investors, along with office, industrial and retail tenants, is challenging in the best economical market and even more challenging near the edge of a “fiscal cliff.”

The Institute of Real Estate Management is an international community of real estate managers dedicated to ethical business practices -- maximizing the value of investment real estate -- and promoting superior management through education and information sharing. IREM is the home for all industry professionals connected to real estate management -- and the only organization serving both the multifamily and commercial sectors.

Since 1933, IREM has set the standard for best practices in real estate management. Today, IREM membership includes nearly 18,000 individuals and 550 corporate members. We believe that good management matters, and that well-managed properties pay dividends in terms of value and in the quality of life for residents, tenants and customers. We believe in professional ethics and the power of knowledge along with the importance of sharing it. IREM offers a variety of membership types for professionals of every experience level, from on-site managers to high-level executives. Our credentials, earned by meeting high standards of education, experience, and ethical business practices, include: Certified Property Manager, Accredited Residential Manager, Accredited Commercial Manager or Accredited Management Organization.

In 2013, the San Diego Chapter of IREM will kick off a Competitive Edge series of educational programs geared toward all aspects of the Real Estate Management industry. The series will start off with “So You Want to Be a Property Manager” on Feb. 21, 2013. There is nothing like hearing about this industry straight from the mouths of experienced managers, so we look forward to this series of programs. In addition to this series, we are putting together a program to provide scholarship funds for those CPM candidates and student members who are looking to get their CPM designation.
