Today’s business professionals have been schooled with the knowledge that participation in professional organizational groups is more than just an added benefit to career development, it is vital. In this age of readily available information and social connectivity, professionals understand that in order to maintain a presence within their industry, they must become active in professional organizational groups. The commercial real estate industry offers a variety of professional organizational groups that cater to industry-specific sectors, such as building owners and managers, brokers, developers, investors, and vendors, among others.
Prominent professional organizational groups that have local San Diego chapter membership include, NAIOP, BOMA, IREM, CCIM, University of San Diego Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate, and CREW. Meissner Jacquét Investment Management Services adheres to the axiom that professional development is not achieved through simply taking an educational course or attending a professional event, but rather it is a continuous endeavor to assess and improve. By becoming actively involved and contributing to professional organizational groups, the professional increases their value to their organization and enhances their self-worth. Employees at Meissner Jacquét are encouraged to join professional organizational groups and become not only active in the local commercial real estate community but on a national level.
Kristin Howell, senior portfolio manager, who has been with Meissner Jacquét Investment Management Services for 12 years, received the honor of being awarded Principal Member of the Year for BOMA San Diego in 2010 and 2012. The Principal Member of the Year award recognizes the Principal Member who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to the success and growth of the BOMA organization through their support of BOMA’s advocacy efforts. Out of the eight nominees, including representatives from major local management firms, Howell was selected due to her active role in BOMA on the national level, and as a dynamic member of the San Diego chapter where she serves on the Board and is the acting Vice President.
Howell also serves as BOMA’s 2013 Convention committee co-chair and chairs the Strategic Planning Committee where she has created cooperation and efficiency between all committees within BOMA. Both BOMA and Meissner Jacquét value Howell as an asset to their organizations and continue to recognize her achievements through her professionalism, her strong leadership capabilities, and her aptitude for hard work.
