BMW of Murrieta, Southwest Riverside county's first high-end luxury car dealership, opened its doors to business on June 6, 2011. From new cars to BMW service and fully stocked parts departments, BMW of Murrieta is a full-service authorized BMW dealership. The new dealership was opened by NASCAR driver Boris Said, of Carlsbad and Charlotte, N.C.-based Hendrick Automotive Group.

When the city of Murrieta incorporated in 1991, having local control of public safety to ensure the safest possible environment was a vision that has now become a reality. Beginning in 1992, the Murrieta Police Department has been committed to making Murrieta the Safest City in Riverside County by forging a partnership with the community to effectively fight crime and improve the quality of life. For the past decade, Murrieta has repeatedly been ranked as the Safest City in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, as reported annually by the FBI. In addition, Murrieta was named the second safest city in the nation for cities with a population of more than 100,000, according to the 2008 FBI statistics.
Opened on April 15, 2011, Loma Linda University Medical Center, in partnership with local physicians, is bringing its renowned commitment for premier health services to a new, state-of-the-art hospital in Murrieta. LLUMC-Murrieta is serving Southern California's southwest Riverside County, including the communities of Murrieta, Temecula, Menifee, Canyon Lake, Wildomar and Lake Elsinore, an area that has a severe shortage of hospital beds and medical services.
Murrieta's Public Works Department recently completed work on major improvements to the Interstate 15/Clinton Keith Road interchange in North Murrieta. The project included the widening of the existing two-lane Clinton Keith Road bridge over I-215 to six lanes, and the construction of two new freeway loop ramps intended to improve circulation in this busy area of Murrieta.

The IBC serves as an extension of the City’s Economic Development Department.
In an era when traditional sources of capital are scarce, Murrieta has jumped on the opportunity to attract foreign direct investment to promote the community's economic development.
Economic development has been identified by the Murrieta City Council as the city’s key priority and the focus for the new General Plan 2035. As a result, the new economic development "element" of the city’s General Plan identifies current economic development conditions and establishes goals to promote fiscal stability/enhance municipal revenues to provide quality services to the community and expand the city’s employment base so as to reduce the level of commuting to San Diego and Orange County.
On June 20, 2011, a groundbreaking was held for a 140-bed, five-story acute care hospital that will do much to answer the growing need for top-quality health care in south Riverside County. The new Temecula Valley Hospital will be constructed on 37 acres at 31700 Temecula Parkway.
The Temecula Valley Unified School District has consistently earned the highest average API test scores in Southwest Riverside County and is in California's top 20 percent of school districts with the highest test scores.
