In a unanimous vote by the organization’s board of directors, Shawn Hagerty was recently elected president of the San Diego Blood Bank.
Growing up as a third-generation Californian in Whittier in the 1960s and '70s, Dr. William Roberts wanted to be a professional baseball player. He was “kind of good” at the game, he said, but in high school it became clear he wasn’t good enough to make the cut, so he became serious about studying instead. Baseball’s loss was pediatric medicine’s gain.
