Leap Wireless (Nasdaq: LEAP) widened its net loss in the third quarter as higher expenses offset higher revenue. The pay-as-you-go cell phone service provider reported a net loss of $64.6 million, or 85 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $49.3 million, or 72 cents per share, in the third quarter of 2008. Total revenues rose to $599.5 million from 2008 third-quarter revenues of $496.7 million, mostly due to a 25-percent increase in service revenues.
