Canadian delegation visits UCSD tech hubs

Senior government officials and business executives from Alberta, Canada, visited the campus of University of California, San Diego, on Tuesday to discuss potential technology research relationships, according to university officials.

The delegation, led by Alberta's Minister of Innovation and Science Victor Doerksen, visited UCSD's Jacobs School of Engineering and the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, also known as Cal-(IT)2.

Technology by Edmonton, Canada-based BigBangwidth is already at use at UCSD in a new grid computing and networking environment called the OptIPuter.
