Pacific Beach is known as a haven for post-collegiate party-goers and surfers, but as real estate prices continue to increase, it is becoming home to more young professionals and families. PB, as it’s commonly called, is the most popular beach destination in San Diego and draws large crowds in the summer. It features a large local nightlife scene, with a wide variety of bars, clubs, eateries and coffee houses. In addition to the night’s entertainments, there’s plenty to do in PB, from surfing and water sports at the beach to biking, rollerblading, strolling and people watching along the 3-mile boardwalk. Boutiques and restaurants line the boardwalk and Garnet Avenue, the main thoroughfare through PB.

A few years ago, when Andy Berg first sat down with The Daily Transcript for an executive roundtable discussion, the mood was gloomy but there was hope for a better future.
Now some time removed from the depths of the Great Recession, Berg said at a recent roundtable discussion that the electrical contracting industry's recovery is more than evident. From his perspective as the executive director of San Diego's chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association, he sees local NECA membership increasing in size. About 18 months ago, he said, NECA San Diego included 32 contractor members and about 35 associate members. The organization is now 51 contractor members strong and includes 48 associate members.
A number of apartment projects are being built in the city of San Diego, ranging from high-density luxury high-rises to smaller-scale affordable housing.
Bankers Hill is home to some of the most sought-after property in San Diego, and developers are banking on the area’s desirability and sweeping views with continued construction of luxury residential projects featuring high-end amenities and indoor-outdoor components.
“You can’t find better real estate in San Diego,” said DTZ investment broker Timothy Winslow about another site in the area that will likely be redeveloped into a residential tower. “It’s got it all.”
Developers and potential residents value the neighborhood's proximity to Balboa Park and downtown, and the sweeping views from Coronado to the bay to Point Loma.
