On-Ramp brings in Kevin Hell as president, CEO

San Diego-based wireless communications company On-Ramp Wireless announced Wednesday the addition of Kevin Hell, former chief executive officer of DivX Inc., as the company's new president and CEO.

Don Telage, chairman of On-Ramp's board of directors, said in a release that he expects Hell to bring what the company needs to diversify its markets after his eight-year tenure at DivX.

While at DivX, Hell was instrumental in transforming the company into a market leader in the rapidly emerging digital video market. Under his leadership, DivX grew and diversified its licensing business, made two successful acquisitions to drive product diversification, and secured format approval from major Hollywood studios before being acquired by Sonic Solutions in October 2010.

Until recently, he was the chairman of EvoNexus, a San Diego-based community-supported technology incubator and a program of CommNexus. Prior to his time at DivX, Hell served as senior vice president of product management for Palm’s Solutions Group, where he managed the Palm branded products and wireless services division worldwide.

He earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University. He also earned an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
