A new cloud-based handler of energy trading and risk management from Smart Utility Systems is scheduled to be released at the upcoming industry conference DistribuTECH in San Diego.

Smart Utility Systems, a provider of products and services aimed at accelerating return on smart grid energy and utility investments, said in a Monday release that its new offering, SUS Smart Energy Retail-Lite, has the ability to interact and process retail business requirements and integrate them with the wholesale energy supply platform.

The company describes the product as a "cloud-based, secure integrated solution" that handles all the key aspects of energy trading and risk management in the context of distributing power to retail customers. It also eliminates the need for any IT resources, hardware or software from the customer, the company added.

The product will be launched at DistribuTECH 2013, the industry conference to be held Jan. 29-31.
