Data management company Overland Storage (Nasdaq: OVRL) announced Monday that it has been granted a new patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office covering its clustered file system technology related to large-scale computer file storage.
The patent, U.S. Patent No. 8,296,398, covers storage of large numbers of computer files using techniques that provide scalable, reliable, and efficient disk operations on those files, the company said in a release. It specifically covers the company's network-attached storage product, called SnapScale.
Overland Storage President and CEO Eric Kelly said that with the driving force of any technology company being its commitment to innovate, the patent represents the company’s advancement in the small, medium and distributed enterprise markets.
