'Sims 3,' 'Punch Out' remake rank high on new games to buy

For last-minute gift givers, it's still not too late to pick up one of these great titles for your dad or grad.

Title: "inFamous"
Platform: PlayStation 3
Rated: T-Teen
Ever wonder what life would be like as a human lightning rod?
That's the situation a simple bike messenger named Cole finds himself in after he awakens at the bottom of a burnt-out crater in the middle of devastated Empire City and discovers his body now courses with electricity.
He also discovers that he can scale the tallest of skyscrapers with ease, while effortlessly skating across power lines as he moves about the city.
So with seemingly limitless power, the question is, will he use these newfound powers to lash out against humanity -- or use them to bring order to the ruined city?
Minor visual annoyances and game play glitches aside, "inFamous" is a solid title that's sure to please any gamer who enjoys a fast-paced, action-oriented game.

Title: "UFC 2009: Undisputed"
Platform: Xbox 360, PS3
Rated: T-Teen
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fans are rejoicing as THQ and the UFC have finally delivered a fighting game that allows them to experience what it's like to compete inside the octagon.
With stunning graphics and excellent voiceover work done by longtime UFC commentators, Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg, "Undisputed" has managed to capture not only the look of the premiere fight organization, but the feel as well.
Adding to the authenticity of the game, are uncanny recreations of dozens of the UFC's top competitors, such as former Light Heavyweight champions Forrest Griffin, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and current titleholder Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida.
Unfortunately, the game is not without a few flaws, including a menu navigation system that seems needlessly time-consuming and online play that is less than stellar.
However the overall game play as well as the ability to choose among different fighting styles, like Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai, more than make up for these shortcomings.
"Undisputed" has already rocketed to the top of May's sales charts with over one million units sold for the Xbox 360 and PS3 since its release, so make sure you pick up a copy today.

Title: "Punch Out"
Platform: Wii
Rated: E-Everyone
If you're a gamer over 20 years old, then odds are you probably have some very found memories of playing "Mike Tyson's Punch Out" on the NES.
Well, the good news is that now you can relive those memories with the updated version of "Punch-Out" for the Wii.
Although Mike Tyson has been removed in this version, fans will immediately notice how similar the game play is to the original.
This means for newcomers, they may finally get a chance to experience the game their dad has been prattling on about all these years.
So whether you're in the mood for a little nostalgia or just want a solid title for the Wii, you don't want to miss this updated blast from the past.

Title: "The Sims 3"
Platform: PC, Mac, iPhone
Rated: T-Teen
You would think that after two wildly popular iterations of "The Sims," Maxis would not be able to top its previous offerings.
Luckily this is not the case, as it has managed to not only do a wonderful job in keeping the familiarity of the series alive and well, but the company has also added in enough new features to make for a fresh experience.
Quite simply, for fans of the franchise, this third installment of "The Sims" is an absolute must buy, while new players may discover why this series has been one of the most successful in video game history.

Title: "Prototype"
Platform: Xbox 360, PS3, PC
Rated: M-Mature
The island of Manhattan finds itself in the grip of a viral outbreak in this new open-world action game by Activision.
Caught between a city of infected mutants and a trigger-happy military who is bent on eradicating this disease at any cost, amnesiac Alex Mercer finds himself infused with strange supernatural powers that give him the ability to glide through the air and shape-shift his arm into powerful weapons.
Combat in this title is very fast-paced, and although the scenery was a bit drab and not to mention repetitive, "Prototype" is still worthy of picking up for your dad or grad.
