LANDMARKS | ELFIN FOREST RECREATIONAL RESERVE | Map It

Notice: The Reserve has reopened.

One of San Diego County 's most precious natural resources, the Reserve currently offers approximately 7.5 miles of hiking, mountain biking, equestrian trails, primitive picnic areas, and scenic mountain viewing points. In addition, the natural beauty of the Reserve includes such native plant communities as oak riparian, oak woodland, coastal sage scrub and chaparral. Once the Olivenhain Water Storage Project is complete, additional trails will open.

Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve is open 364 days a year (Closed Dec. 25).

Park hours are from 8:00 am to approximately 30 minutes before sunset. Actual closing time is posted at trail head.

Park is closed on rainy days.
