Ms. Balfour is a recipient of San Diego Metropolitan's 'Forty Under 40' Award, which recognizes business and professional leaders in San Diego under the age of 40. Ms. Balfour also received the Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award for her outstanding commitment to working in the community and providing legal services to the indigent.
Ms. Balfour is Co-Chair of the Children at Risk Committee of the San Diego County Bar Association. In that capacity, she works with schools and children's organizations and coordinates literacy and enrichment programs that rely on attorney volunteers. She is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, and the Lawyers Club of San Diego. She is also a member of the Task Force for the Women's Resource Fair, an event supported by San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program which provides legal, medical, and social services to impoverished women in San Diego. Ms. Balfour is on the Advisory Board of Genesis Expeditions, an organization that works toward the advancement of orphans in Mexico.
Ms. Balfour has completed the following trial advocacy programs: San Diego Inn of Court College of Advocacy multi-week evidence course and the Louis M. Welsh American Inn of Court one year program.
Ms. Balfour is admitted to practice in all courts in California, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Following graduation from law school in 1999, Ms. Balfour served for one year as Law Clerk to the Honorable Marilyn L. Huff, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
