Judy Hissong is chief operating officer of Solomon, Grindle, Silverman & Spinella, currently managing a staff of 26 professionals including secretaries, paralegals, associate attorneys and administrative support personnel. Hissong oversees all aspects of financial management, including payables, receivables, general ledger, financial statements and tax preparation. She is personally responsible for the general ledger and financial statement process.
In addition, Hissong organizes and facilitates all shareholder meetings, including monthly meetings and annual retreats. She negotiates purchase contracts for software, equipment and furnishings.
Previously, she was an instructor at the University of California, San Diego and California State University at Fullerton, teaching financial legal management.
Hissong is currently seated on the international board of directors as director of Region 6 (includes California, Nevada, Arizona and New Zealand) for the Association of Legal Administrators. She previously served as a communications officer in Region 6 (2007), the Annual Conference education and exposition chair (2006), and the president of the San Diego Chapter (2004).
She earned a master’s degree from the University of Richmond, in Virginia, and received her bachelor’s from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. She is one of less than 300 Certified Legal Managers in the United States, is a Certified Personal Trainer and a former professional athlete. Hissong is a sought-after speaker and presenter on wellness topics and strategic planning for law firms.
She continues to speak to legal organizations (including law firms, their business partners and associations) on the topics of stress management, work/life balance and the power of the mind. Additionally, she has several presentations on strategic planning in law firms -- including making law firms extraordinary places to work.
