Darlene Hart is the director of human resources for Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP and is located in the firm's San Diego office. Her career with Luce Forward began in 1997 when she became the support staff supervisor. In 2003, she was promoted to her current position.
Hart's responsibilities include hiring, coordinating performance reviews of associates, staff and paralegals, and writing and updating firm policies and procedures. She also supervises the payroll and benefits functions of the firm.
She is responsible for monitoring FMLA, pregnancy and workers' compensation leaves, state and federal wage and hour laws and ADA compliance. She counsels staff and interfaces with attorneys regarding staffing issues. Hart is involved in reviewing, designing and implementing the staff compensation program and making budget recommendations.
Hart is a member of the international Association of Legal Administrators, and serves in various officer positions including president, president-elect, vice-president, treasurer, secretary and director of the San Diego Chapter of Association of Legal Administrators. Hart was the recipient of its "Outstanding Administrator" recognition in 2001. She is also a member of the Society of Human Resource Management.
Hart received her J.D. from the Nashville School of Law in 1979, and was a recipient of Moot Court Award. She earned her B.S. in psychology and sociology from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn., in 1974. She received Senior Professional in Human Resources certification in 2005.
