Welcome to the Executive Profiles section of Point Loma Nazarene University's Master of Business Administration program. Featuring current graduates of the MBA as well as the members of the faculty, the intention is to provide the San Diego business community a convenient connecting point to the high quality individuals involved in the Point Loma Nazarene University MBA. As members of the Fermanian School of Business at PLNU, over 500 students are currently pursuing either undergraduate or graduate business degrees in both day and evening classes.

Dr. Harry Watkins

Point Loma Nazarene University

Dr. Harry Watkins is Professor of Marketing, Strategy and Sustainability at Point Loma Nazarene University.

He teaches various courses in marketing and business strategy in PLNU’s Fermanian School of Business (FSB). He is also active in the university’s Resource Sustainability Task Force and is actively pursuing ways to integrate “triple-bottom line” principles – e.g., balancing objectives of profitability, social responsibility and environmental sustainability – into his teaching and research. He brings to these assignments experience and expertise in marketing and business strategy.


Watkins has more than 30 years' experience in marketing management, market research and analysis, consulting, and business education. He has held marketing and sales management positions with firms such as Tektronix, Mentor Graphics, Amerex Technologies, and Consep, Inc and was a research director and information technology analyst with the Aberdeen Group with a focus on customer relationship management and marketing technology software. He was also Interim Director of Marketing and Creative Services for PLNU while rebuilding that department. He has published articles in various journals, books, and conference proceedings and consulted extensively in strategic marketing strategy and customer relationship management best practices. In addition, he has taught marketing, strategy, and engineering management courses to undergraduate, graduate, and executive students at the University of Oregon and California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA as well as at Point Loma Nazarene University.

Watkins earned a B.S. in Biology from Willamette University, an ASCP registration as a Medical Technologist, an M.B.A. from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. in Strategic Marketing from the University of Oregon.
