Professional Background
Linda Berger joined the Thomas Jefferson School of Law faculty in 1993. Her research and writing focuses on legal composition, legal rhetoric, metaphor theory and emerging First Amendment and media law. After graduating from law school, where she was articles editor of the Case Western Reserve Law Review, Berger practiced law with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where she specialized in First Amendment litigation and media defense. Before law school, she was a news reporter for The Associated Press in Washington, D.C.; a spokesperson for the Mayor of Washington, D.C.; and an editor and publications coordinator at Cleveland State University.
Professional Affiliations
Berger currently serves as a member of the boards of directors of the Legal Writing Institute and the Association of Legal Writing Directors. She is a founding member of the editorial committee and the current editor of the Journal of the Association of Legal Writing Directors. Since her stint as a news reporter at the Associated Press, Professor Berger has remained a member of the Society of Professional Journalists.
