In the past few months, Kent has represented Biosite Inc., a publicly traded medical diagnostics company, in its much-publicized pending $1.6 billion acquisition by Inverness Medical Innovations Inc.; DivX Inc., a digital media company, in its $145 million initial public offering; Charlotte Russe Holding Inc., a publicly traded specialty retailer, in a $131 million follow-on offering; Kalypsys Inc., a privately held biotechnology company, in a $100 million venture capital financing; and Chimerix Inc., a privately held biotechnology company, in a $23 million venture capital financing. Professional Background Kent is a partner in the Emerging Companies and Public Companies practice groups and a member of the Business department of Cooley Godward Kronish LLP. He represents private and public technology companies in a wide range of corporate and securities matters, including private financings, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance matters, and employment and compensation arrangements. He also represents venture capital funds and investment banking firms in connection with private financings and public offerings. Kent represents companies in the biotechnology, medical device, software, semiconductor, retail, wireless, Internet and education industries. His clients range from startups to companies with hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenues.
