Robert J. Bello grew up in Park Ridge, Ill., and attended Northwestern University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, majoring in both economics and political science. While at Northwestern, Bello played on the school's varsity baseball team and after graduating, he played professional baseball in Italy for two seasons.
Bello then moved to San Diego to attend law school. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. While at Thomas Jefferson, Bello received several distinguished accolades, including making the honor roll/distinguished honor roll every semester, being named a member of Law Review, and being selected to be a student representative of the notable Wallace Inn of Court. Bello was also chosen to serve as a Judicial Extern for the Hon. Leo S. Papas at the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, and for the Hon. Judith L. Haller at the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division One. Bello also helped found Thomas Jefferson's Dual Degree MBA Program with San Diego State University, and was the first graduate of the official program, earning both his J.D. and M.B.A. At SDSU, Bello was recognized as the 2009 Outstanding MBA/JD Graduate and was named a member of the distinguished Phi Kappa Phi national honor society.
Bello joined Berman & Riedel LLP, as an associate attorney in 2010. His practice areas include catastrophic injury, wrongful death and elder law. Bello is admitted to practice in California, Illinois and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California.
Bello holds dual citizenship with the United States and Italy, and speaks fluent Italian. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, traveling, playing competitive baseball and spending time with his wife Erin, who is also an attorney.
