Maureen Mueller is an associate in the San Diego office of Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, where her practice focuses on prosecuting securities class action lawsuits on behalf of aggrieved investors for violations of the federal securities laws. She received her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2007. During law school, she served as lead articles editor of the San Diego Law Review. Mueller joined Robbins Geller as an associate after law school. She is admitted to the State Bar of California as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California.  

Mueller was a member of the Robbins Geller trial team in Jaffe v. Household Int’l, Inc., No. 02-C-5893 (N.D. Ill.).  During the pre-trial conference, she briefed, argued and won a key motion in limine, which prevented defendants from introducing certain evidence at trial. On May 7, 2009, after a six-week trial in Chicago, the jury returned a verdict in favor of investors on liability and an award of per share damages -- an extremely rare outcome in securities fraud cases. Although the Household litigation is ongoing, the verdict is expected to yield in excess of $1 billion for investors. Mueller was also a member of the team of attorneys responsible for recovering a record-breaking $925 million for investors in In re UnitedHealth Group Inc. PSLRA Litig., No. 06-CV-1216 (JMR/FLN) (D. Minn.).

Mueller was born and raised in Anchorage, Ala. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Trinity University in 2002. While at Trinity, she was a member of the women’s varsity soccer team and served as team captain. In 2000, her team reached the Final Four of the NCAA Division III National Championship. Additionally, they were the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions in 1998, 2000 and 2001.  

Mueller is also involved in San Diego’s military community. While her husband, a captain and F/A-18 instructor in the U.S. Marine Corps, was deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom, she provided emotional support and humor for her fellow military spouses. She also participates in Operation Homefront’s “Adopt-a-Family” program, which provides financial assistance to local military families during the holidays.
