Professional Background
Les Overman joined Heller Ehrman in 2005 and is a member of the Patents & Trademarks Practice Group and the Life Sciences Practice. He has particular knowledge in developing patent strategies for the life sciences industry, and his practice focuses on patent prosecution. Prior to joining Heller Ehrman, Overman served as in-house counsel at Internet startup Colizer Inc. and patent attorney at Isis Pharmaceuticals. He also was a scientific adviser for a boutique biotechnology law firm in San Diego. Prior to his legal career, Overman was a staff scientist at biotechnology companies in Palo Alto and San Diego. He was also an American Cancer Society postdoctoral fellow at the University of California San Diego. Overman holds two patents and has published articles in a number of scientific journals.
