Hawthorne Cat proud partners with local, federal and military agencies

Hawthorne Cat®, an authorized Caterpillar dealer in San Diego County, has a long history of successful support for all branches of the military, U.S. federal government agencies, state and local government customers.

Hawthorne has been supporting this effort since 1956. The initial San Diego Caterpillar service territory included Camp Pendleton and the various local US Naval bases. Its services have ranged from direct military support to working with local major defense contractors to meet military requirements. Providing packaging support for AOE Ships in the late 1980’s, rental equipment to the Point Loma Naval Submarine Base for submarine maintenance and supplying and installing machine gun mounts on U.S. Marine vehicles are just a few of the diverse projects Hawthorne has performed. In 2004, Hawthorne expanded its defense and military support with the acquisition of the Caterpillar service territory in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan.

In 2008, Hawthorne became a General Services Administration (GSA) Contractor Holder. Working with GSA, Hawthorne has been successful in offering the military “non-traditional” services. It made the investment to assist the military in streamlining their acquisition process for services often sought. These services include construction equipment rentals/leases, portable power generation rentals, field and shop service and local expertise at all Hawthorne locations. Additionally, Hawthorne established a Government/Military Team, a group solely dedicated to answering the specialized, unique needs of local, federal and military agencies.

With the rapid expansion of the military bases within our territory, Hawthorne has been busy supporting the contractors and sub-contractors aboard base. Whether it’s a Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ) expansion at Camp Pendleton or preparing for expansion in Guam, we are aggressively pursuing this business in this historic time. We are also currently working with small businesses who fit a set aside category such as Woman Owned Small Businesses (WOSB) and Small Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB) to create dynamic partnerships in our continued effort to support the military.

The military deploys and rotates frequently and this creates unique challenges with supporting Caterpillar equipment. Cat PartStore® provides a convenient way for customers to order parts from their local Cat Dealer, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Customers can simply select the parts they need online and have them delivered directly to their location. Each PartStore solution will streamline the parts procurement process including allowing customers free access to check real-time price and availability and search from over 800,000 parts from online parts books. When you add the most reliable dealer network in the industry like Hawthorne, there is no other logistic support system that can offer the same parts and service support for the military or federal agencies.

While Caterpillar and Hawthorne can provide everything from power modules to track-type tractors to power generation, it's more than what we make and provide - it's what we make possible for the federal government agencies and military commands that we support in our service territories.
