GTC launches next generation cloud (GTCcloud.com) with spectacular IT, Leadership conference

Related Special Reports

On a beautiful San Diego summer day, nearly 100 IT leaders and professionals from all over Southern California came to the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad to attend our most successful conference to date.

Attendees came to hear how GTC and industry leaders can provide powerful, cost-effective cloud technologies and processes to rapidly impact their potential cloud initiative's future success. Jason Pollock, GTC's Director of Global Sales was the emcee and introduced the event with a brief overview of the company.

Servant Leadership keynote by CEO Keith Michael Esshaki

The conference kicked off with an inspirational introduction from CEO Keith Michael Esshaki. Keith shared some thoughts and background about Servant Leadership – the importance of a moral imperative in business, giving back, and treating people with dignity and respect. It was very well received and launched the conference on a very high note.

GTC cloud customer story

Following Keith was an informative customer testimonial presented by Chris Nelson, the VP of Development and IT of Education Systems, Inc. Chris, a long time "cloud" customer, illustrated how the GTC Cloud infrastructure has helped their organization provide a robust infrastructure to provide hosting of their application to their clients. We thank him for not only being a customer, but for sharing his experience with others.

Cloud best practices

From there, the CIO of GTC Systems Mike Chase provided an extensive overview of the GTC Cloud offerings, clearly illustrating the many features and benefits that we can offer to our customers -- all of which are based on the premise of month-to-month service contracts, without long-term commitments, allowing us the opportunity to earn your business each and every month.

This led to brief, informative presentations by our vendors. Those included:

* The Software Defined Datacenter - Brian McNeil, Senior National Product Manager - VMware

* Veeam and GTC Cloud - Doug Hazelman, VP of Product Strategy - Veeam

* Company Update and Cloud Products - Michael Woodruff, Senior Sales Engineer - SuperMicro

* Storage Best Practices in the Cloud - Jon Ash, Vice President of Sales - Nexenta

* About the Citrix CloudGateway™ - Rob Ferencik, Senior Systems Engineer - Citrix

* User Profile Virtualization in the Cloud - Daniel Lew, Territory Account Manager - AppSense

Other sponsors included: the Servant Leadership Institute, Wyse, ExaGrid, Give Something Back, Cox Business, Afterburner, Whiptail, and Quickstart

Keynote presentation

The Keynote presentation, "Flawless Execution" was highly anticipated by all, and did not disappoint.

There are keynote events, and then there is the immersive action and response of an Afterburner keynote address. Presented by Afterburner's Patrick "Lips" Houlahan, he entertained the crowd while at the same time, showing how to bring the "zero tolerance for error" world of fighter pilots to any organization, and ultimately providing better results from their efforts.

"Lips" was selected as the San Diego's MPI (Meeting Professionals International) Speaker of the Year for 2006. He still participates in the Marine Corps Reserves as an F/A-18 Hornet Instructor Pilot. In this keynote address, he clearly showed how the "Flawless Execution" model is one that the U.S. Air Force depends on, and how our attendees can benefit from it.

Our special thanks to our presenters, sponsors, team members, and especially to our customers who took the time to join us. A special thanks also to Leatha Medina, GTC's Business Development Manager, for organizing and managing and this event. We look forward to seeing you all at our next event.
