Michael Johnson is managing principal of Carrier Johnson, an architecture firm with offices in San Diego, Costa Mesa, Sacramento and Oakland.
Johnson spends much of his time on various San Diego boards, councils and committees. In addition to his firm commitments, Johnson is chair of the San Diego Downtown Partnership, a nonprofit organization of companies and individuals committed to strengthening the business, residential and cultural environment of downtown San Diego. Among other things, the Partnership serves as downtown's watchdog, supporting redevelopment that stimulates business and economic growth and advocating for improvements that enhance downtown's quality of life.
Johnson has also served as president for the San Diego Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and treasurer of the AIA California Council, while serving on AIACC's Long-Range Planning Committee and the Urban Design Task Force, and is often called on to be a juror for award panels.
