As she was biking down Mission Beach on a typical sunny day, Lisa Richards noticed families toting their coolers and a group of what looked like professional party planners sloppily throwing together a picnic for some group or another.
It was then she thought, "I could get paid to do this."
Richards started pitching the idea to anyone who would listen.
She said it was an easy sell, since her company provided food, drinks and activities all in one easy package. It was something, she said, San Diego had never seen before.
Her first client was Koll Construction and things took off from there.
