Master-planned communities were once doubted but are now viewed as ideal living environments, and EastLake Co. LLC, managed by President and CEO William T. Ostrem, is one of the largest in the county.
Conceived in the 1970s, EastLake has now sold its last lot and is adding upscale restaurants, a design district and a village walk with various retailers to its list of amenities accessible without leaving the community. Village Walk, slated for completion in early 2007, will include nearly 160,000 square feet of specialty retail space and winding pedestrian walkways. EastLake's 3,200 acres are also home to the nation's first year-round warm-weather U.S. Olympic Training Center.
Ostrem is on the Board of Directors of several civic groups like South Bay Family YMCA; the Greater San Diego Division of the American Heart Association; and the South County Economic Development Corp. He also serves on advisory boards for several building-related organizations.
