East County market poised for hotel development
Virtually ignored by the hotel industry for decades, East County has emerged as a prime target for development of a signature hotel property, with local communities -- bolstered by a raft of recent feasibility studies, surveys and reports supporting such development -- competing to attract hotel developers to their respective sites.


Redevelopment of San Diego County's older communities is gaining momentum, and the East County area is no exception.

Barona resort and casino bets on winning design

Santee's town center coming together
Excitement is building in Santee, as the "centerpiece" development for the East County community -- Santee Trolley Square -- nears a fall opening. The largest retail project to open in San Diego this year, the $50 million Santee Trolley Square is being developed by Vestar Development Co. in partnership with the city of Santee's redevelopment agency.
