Birtcher recognizes co-chair Anderson by changing name of unit to Birtcher Anderson Properties

April 11, 2003

Recognizing Co-Chairman Bob Anderson's leadership in the company for the last 15 years, Birtcher Real Estate Group has announced that, effective immediately, it has changed the name of Birtcher Property Services to Birtcher Anderson Properties.

Anderson has served as president and chief executive officer of Birtcher Property Services since 1992 and co-chairman of the Birtcher Real Estate Group since 1999, and is responsible for the company's investment activity, property/asset management and leasing operations. He joined the company in 1988, after serving as manager in The Irvine Co.'s Treasury Department. Anderson is the only individual outside the Birtcher family to serve as co-chairman.

"Bob's leadership has been reflective of the integrity and commitment that has built the Birtcher reputation over its 64 years of history. The name change is in recognition of the immense role Bob has had in the success of the company," said co-Chairman Arthur Birtcher. "Under his leadership we have re-energized our direct investment business and have become recognized as an institutional-quality property management organization."

Birtcher Anderson Properties has invested nearly $80 million in San Diego real estate in the last four years, including its most recent acquisition, Valley Commerce Center.

Since its inception in 1939 as a family enterprise specializing in development, investment and construction, the Birtcher Family of Cos. has grown to become one of the nation's leading real estate firms. The company is responsible for the acquisition, development and management of approximately 100 million square feet of commercial, industrial and residential properties throughout the United States. Birtcher has also acquired 2.2 million square feet of individual assets and real estate portfolios worth more than $300 million. Much of this has been purchased on behalf of Asian clients, which established Birtcher as one of the leading providers of S.E. Capital Management.

"While this is an exciting evolution for the company, our focus will remain on nurturing the profound relationships we have established with our clients and partners and on continuing to seek out growth opportunities in the company's core areas," Anderson said.
