Eleanor Roosevelt College housing and dining facilities, the largest construction project in University of California, San Diego history -- both in funding and footage -- will celebrate completion with the arrival of its first students in September 2003.
The internationally famed architectural firm of Moshe Safdie & Associates of Boston, is executive architect for the $106 million project, located on 12 acres adjacent to North Torrey Pines Road. Rudolph and Sletten Inc. is the general contractor.

At 436,000 gross square feet, the housing and dining facilities at UCSD's Eleanor Roosevelt College (as shown in the model above) is the largest construction project in the university's history.
The Eleanor Roosevelt College project, which also includes an International House, will provide 436,000 gross square feet of new construction. It comprises 460 beds in residence halls, 790 beds in apartments, dining facilities to seat 300, meeting rooms, ancillary services and common areas for administrative functions of the housing complex.
Other current UCSD projects include:
* The Rebecca and John Moores UCSD Cancer Center, due for completion in November 2004. McCarthy Building Co. Inc. is the general contractor for the $104.8 million, 270,000-gross-square-foot facility, located on the east campus near Thornton Hospital.

* The California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology facility, a $102.5 million project, is scheduled for completion in December 2004.
* Gilbane Building Co. is general contractor for the 222,000-gross-square-foot facility.
* The $61.5 million School of Medicine Research Facility, with 140,000 gross square feet, will be completed in January 2004. McCarthy Building Co. Inc. is the general contractor.
