Environmental Business Solutions (EBS), an SCS Engineers company, has completed a survey and site assessments for Harley Davidson of El Cajon, a motorcycle servicing and sales facility at 621 El Cajon Blvd. in El Cajon.

The scope of the project entailed preparing costs and obtaining work plan pre-approvals from the San Diego County and the California Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund, assessing soil and groundwater, as well as conducting a site evaluation involving a soil vapor survey and risk assessment.

The EBS team drilled soil borings, designed and installed monitoring wells and prepared an interim remedial action plan to implement a cleanup strategy to support site redevelopment and to protect the environment.

Special onsite soil moisture equipment was used to facilitate placement of screened intervals of the wells. Soil moisture data and particle-size analysis of soil samples were collected to better understand the complex hydrogeology of the site, typically found in El Cajon.

Throughout the project, EBS served as a regulatory liaison between Harley Davidson of El Cajon and the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health. EBS is currently working with Harley Davidson of El Cajon to finalize the strategy for site redevelopment and to ensure that Harley Davidson has successfully met its obligations to protect human health and the environment.

Daniel Johnson served as principal-in-charge for EBS, with Helen Perry as project manager. Dave Larsen, president of Harley Davidson of El Cajon, is providing project oversight
