Message from the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce
Welcome to the 2003 North County Business-to-Business Expo. This is the second year the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring North County's premiere business-to-business trade show, and based on last year's extremely successful exhibition, this year's show will be the best in San Diego County.

North County experiences vibrant growth
A lot of people with metropolitan mindsets in downtown San Diego believe that the northern border of the county runs between Mira Mesa and Del Mar. However, some of the most vibrant growth in the region is taking place to the north.
Go for the No: Getting prospects to make commitments
Traditional salespeople are trained that it takes at least seven No's to get to a Yes. But do you really believe that a No will magically turn into a Yes? What if your prospect has been telling you all along that "No, they are either not willing or not able to invest in your product or service"? Will they suddenly stop dead in their tracks and have a major shift in their perspective and now hand over their checkbook to you? My experience tells me that the answer to that question is "No" abundantly more often than "Yes."
Customer service excellence achieving a higher standard
Excellent customer service is not a choice anymore. Competition for products and services is at an all time high. Today's customers have higher expectations than ever before, yet customer service is at an all time low. How can that be?
Stop trying to sell me -- just educate me and I'll buy
The energy most salespeople put into their "pitch" amazes me. More often than not they're ill-equipped with both sales skills and product knowledge. And the marketing they rely on isn't so hot, either. So, in a desperate attempt to win new business they go into a long litany of features and benefits, never taking time to understand the need (mind) of the prospect standing in front of them. Effective marketing that educates the prospect solves this problem, simplifying and shortening the sales process.
Oceanside: Growing with the times
Oceanside's economy, like most economies, is organic and changes with the times and the marketplace. The 115-year-old city began as an agricultural community in the fertile valleys of the San Luis Rey River, became a tourist destination, and is now a major defense industry location. Today, development in the area continues to be strong.
Multiple income streams the answer to small business marketing challenges
Marketing is complex, yet at the same time very simple. Many business owners look for the best way to market their business and fail to find the one that gets the job done -- by producing a sufficient income stream. Any source of sales and profits is considered an income stream. The goal of most business owners is to find or develop a large and effective income stream -- one that provides enough sales and cash flow to pay the bills and have ample profit left over.
Ensuring audiovisual success
When planning a special event, many elements come into play. Deciding on a venue, selecting the entertainment, developing the program, deciding on a menu and creating an invitee list are all important considerations and take much time and energy. One of the most important and most overlooked areas of planning is identifying the audiovisual needs and selecting a qualified audiovisual provider.
Networking show-and-tell displays
Talk about your lead generating opportunities. An offering like a business exposition with 500 booths and 100,000 spectators does not come along every day, and it's a very economical way to meet my target market. However, wait. What do I do to be successful? How do I maximize my time to meet the best-qualified prospects? What do I need to do to make an offer that gets me in their door now, turning those business cards into referrals? How do I turn those business cards into dollars?

Education is key to a successful business
"Business" and "college" may seem to be two separate entities. But business people know that learning new skills is a continual necessity, for themselves as well as their employees. And local business people will be pleasantly surprised at the number of services and classes available to them -- free or inexpensively -- through MiraCosta College.

Some things you just don't want to know, or you're afraid to ask because then you'll know. You know you should know, but if you don't know, you can't be held responsible ... sometimes.
